Honest and relevant personal essays. Insightful cultural commentary. Novel writing advice. In-depth copy-writing. Dedicated editing.

Liz Lazzara

For me, word-work isn't just a job. It's a passion. Every piece I write or edit is a gem to be polished to its highest luster. (Can you tell I write for a living?).

My approach to every writing and editing—no matter the content or format—is to tell a meaningful story. Even copy can present a clear and compelling narrative, if you care about the content. No matter the piece, I'm married to the material until it's my best, continually shifting my tone and style to greet the intended reader.

If you want my credentials, I'll give them: I majored in English with a concentration in Creative Writing and graduated with both Distinction and Honors from the University of Rochester. I interned for both BOA Editions and Open Letter Books, both prestigious publishing houses in Rochester, NY.

But when I went on to begin freelance writing as a personal essayist, I only looked back to use what I had learned there. I once thought publishing was my calling. I know now that it's creating pieces of use, beauty, and thought provocation.

I've been in love with words since I began memorizing books as a toddler and writing poetry in elementary school. Let me show you how that love can transform the practice of writing and editing.
